We design water supply systems for residential complexes, office buildings, industrial and infrastructure facilities. We create water supply schemes, select pumping equipment and develop pipe layout, ensuring reliable and safe operation. A well-designed water supply system ensures a stable water supply, durability of utility networks and comfort for users.
An error in the design of an internal water supply system is discovered not at the stage of checking the drawings, but during hydraulic tests of the installed system - when rework is incomparably more expensive. Low pressure on the upper floors, incorrectly selected riser diameter, lack of compensators on long horizontal sections - each of these miscalculations means stopping construction, dismantling and re-installation.
AYU-Project is a design company with many years of experience in developing the IOS2 section for residential complexes, industrial enterprises, retail and public facilities. We develop a complete set of documentation in accordance with SP 30.13330.2020 and Government Decree of the Russian Federation No. 87 dated 16.02.2008 No. 87 (as amended on 21.10.2025) “On the composition of sections of design documentation and requirements for their content”: systems B1 (cold water supply), T3 (hot water supply), B2 (fire water supply), industrial and circulating circuits - with verified hydraulic calculations, selection of pumping equipment and booster units, specifications with article numbers. The result is documentation that is approved by the expert review authority and clear enough for installers to work from without queries.
An incorrectly designed internal water supply system is not an abstract risk, but direct losses: alteration of installed risers, replacement of pumping equipment, non-compliance of pressure with regulatory requirements at the inlet and, as a result, refusal to sign acceptance certificates. For a developer or general contractor, such a scenario means a delay in the delivery of the project and financial claims from subcontractors.
For which facilities do we design internal water supply?
Section IOS2 is developed for any capital construction projects that provide for water consumption:
- residential complexes and apartment buildings - systems B1 (cold water supply) and T3 (hot water supply with circulation circuits), internal fire water supply system B2 with fire hydrants, individual heating points that increase pumping units in case of insufficient pressure in the city network;
- industrial enterprises and production sites - separate systems for domestic and drinking water, industrial and recycling water supply, technological water pipelines with calculation of specific loads;
- commercial and public buildings - shopping and entertainment centers, office buildings, hotels, medical institutions with regulated water consumption and extensive systems GVS with temperature maintenance;
- logistics and warehouse complexes - fire water supply with calculation of costs for internal fire extinguishing according to SP 10.13130.2020, deluge and sprinkler fire extinguishing systems (in part IOS2);
- reconstruction objects - replacement of worn-out internal networks with hydraulic recalculation for new loads and preservation of existing connection points.
Why do construction organizations choose AYU-Project to design IOS2?
Builders and developers trust us with the development of internal water supply systems, as we offer solutions that minimize capital costs and risks when commissioning a facility:
- We develop projects taking into account the volume of consumption and the characteristics of the facility. We do not use standard templates “with a reserve” - each calculation is performed for specific loads, which allows us to avoid overestimating pipe diameters and pumping equipment power.
- We optimize routes and equipment for stable and economical operation. AYU-Project designers find optimal routes for laying risers and mains, reducing the length of pipelines and the number of fittings, which reduces the installation cost estimate to 15-20%.
- We guarantee compliance with water supply regulations and standards. Project documentation is developed strictly according to SP 30.13330.2020 And SP 10.13130.2020. We guarantee completing expert review and unhindered receipt of reports on the readiness of networks from resource supply organizations.
- Using BIM to eliminate collisions. Designing the IOS2 section in a 3D environment allows you to see and eliminate intersections of water pipes with ventilation ducts or power supply trays even at the drawing stage, eliminating expensive alterations on the construction site.
- Free support during the examination. AYU-Project does not just issue documentation, but accompanies it until a positive expert review opinion is received. All comments from experts on our section are eliminated as soon as possible without additional payment.
What water supply systems are included in section IOS2?
Depending on the facility purpose, section IOS2 may include several independent systems, each of which is designed and calculated separately:
- B1 - cold domestic and drinking water supply - the main system that ensures the supply of drinking quality water to all sanitary fixtures and technological points;
- T3 - hot water supply - designed with circulation risers and ring distributions to ensure standard water temperature at water points without prolonged drainage; includes calculation of heat losses and selection of circulation pumps;
- B2 - internal fire water supply - fire hydrants, sprinkler and deluge networks; calculation of flow rates and pressures is carried out according to SP 10.13130.2020 And SP 485.1311500.2020;
- industrial water supply systems - circulating cooling circuits, deionized water for technological processes, water reuse systems;
- booster pumping units - designed for insufficient pressure at the connection point; include calculation of pressure, selection of pumping equipment and control cabinets.
What pipes are used in indoor plumbing projects?
AYU-Project engineers select the type of pipes individually for each facility, giving preference to modern and durable solutions. The choice of material directly depends on the operating parameters of the system (pressure, temperature), installation method and construction budget.
| Pipe material | Operating temperature | Service life | Advantages in the project |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polypropylene (PP-R) | up to 90 °C | 50 years | Low cost, quick installation, no corrosion |
| Cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) | up to 95 °C | 50+ years | Flexibility (hidden wiring in the screed), resistance to water hammer |
| Stainless steel | up to 120 °C | 50+ years | Maximum hygiene, fire safety, aesthetics |
| Copper | up to 150 °C | 80+ years | Bactericidal properties, durability, chlorine resistance |
The rationale for choosing a specific material with a technical and economic comparison of options is recorded in the explanatory note of the DD.

Cost and timing of design development
The cost of developing design documentation and working documentation for internal water supply systems is determined by the area and number of floors of the facility, the composition of the systems (B1, T3, B2, production circuits), the presence of booster pumping units and individual heating points, as well as the composition of the approvals. A project for a production facility with circulating systems and process water pipelines will require significantly more development than IOS2 for a typical residential building.

Frequently Asked Questions
AYU-Project delivers projects remotely across Russia. To prepare the design documentation, clients can submit the technical conditions, architectural plans and design brief electronically. A site visit may be required to survey existing utilities during reconstruction; where necessary, this is agreed individually and included in the contract.
Hot water consumption is determined by SP 30.13330.2020 based on water consumption standards per inhabitant, the number of apartments and simultaneity factors. For residential buildings, the hot water consumption rate ranges from 50 to 120 l/day per person, depending on the level of amenities. Based on the calculation results, the maximum second flow rate is determined, which is used to select the diameters of risers and connections.
State expert review of design documentation is mandatory for facilities financed from the budget and for facilities requiring a construction permit under Article 49 of the Town Planning Code of the Russian Federation. For commercial facilities with private financing, independent expert review is sufficient or no expertise is required, depending on the category of the facility. AYU-Project determines the need for expertise at the stage of concluding a contract and accompanies comments.
For the T3 system, pipes are used that are resistant to temperatures up to 90 °C: PP-R polypropylene (reinforced with fiberglass or aluminum), PE-X cross-linked polyethylene, metal-polymer pipes or stainless steel. The choice of material depends on the pressure in the system, the installation method (open, hidden, in grooves or screed) and the project budget. The project justifies the choice with a technical and economic comparison of options.
Yes, according to SP 30.13330.2020, it is allowed to combine the B1 (domestic drinking water) and B2 (fire-fighting water supply) systems, provided that the external network provides the calculated water flow for fire extinguishing, and the water quality complies with sanitary standards. The integrated system is designed taking into account the maximum second consumption for fire extinguishing and household needs at the same time.
A booster pumping installation is designed if the guaranteed pressure at the point of connection to the external network is not enough to ensure the standard pressure at the upper water points. According to SP 30.13330.2020, the minimum free pressure for mixers is not less than 2 m of water. Art., at water taps - not less than 1 m of water. Art. If the available pressure from the city network is less than required, taking into account losses in height and in the pipeline, a pumping installation is required.
The timing depends on the area of the facility, the number of floors, the number of systems and the composition of approvals. A typical DD for the internal water supply of a residential building with an area of up to 5000 m² is developed in 10-14 working days after receiving a full set of initial data; WD - another 7-10 working days. Passing the state expert review - additionally 30-45 working days depending on the authority.
To start the design, you need: technical conditions for connection from the resource supply organization (vodokanal, management company), architectural plans of the building with an explication of the premises, a design assignment indicating the composition of the systems (B1, T3, B2, production) and the estimated number of water points. If the specifications have not yet been received, AYU-Project can assist in their preparation.
