We design power supply systems for buildings and structures, from internal electrical networks to external power connections. Our documentation is prepared to support reliable operation, electrical safety and compliance with applicable technical requirements.
AYU-Project develops power supply design documentation for residential, public, industrial and infrastructure facilities. The scope can include internal networks, external power supply, load calculations, equipment selection and coordination with related engineering systems.
What does a developer risk when the electrical design is underestimated?
A construction project without properly designed electrical systems carries risks that cannot be fully corrected during installation. Reliable, energy-efficient and safe power supply starts in the documentation: the quality of the electrical design determines how the facility will operate in its first year and throughout its life cycle. AYU-Project develops design documentation and working documentation for power supply systems, from load calculations and internal networks to external connection diagrams, with a focus on system reliability, regulatory compliance and expert review readiness.
Why can an electrical design error become so costly for a developer?
Electrical design documentation affects many related engineering disciplines: ventilation, extra-low-voltage systems, fire automation, dispatching and building management systems. An error made at the design stage becomes much more expensive as the project moves toward completion. Reworking electrical routes after construction and installation work has started can shift deadlines, create unplanned costs and require additional expert-review coordination.
Developers and contractors work under strict obligations to investors, co-investors and end customers. A weak technical solution is not only a revision to a cable schedule; it can lead to financial losses, delayed commissioning and reputational risk. Choosing an electrical design partner is therefore a strategic decision.
AYU-Project integrates into the construction process as an external engineering design department. We take responsibility for the electrical design cycle, coordinate technical solutions with related disciplines and prepare documentation for expert review.
What is included in electrical system design?
Power supply design covers the full electrical path, from the utility connection point to each end consumer inside the facility. The composition of design documentation and working documentation depends on the facility type, reliability category and project stage. Within the electrical sections, our engineers design the following systems:
- Cable and overhead lines rated 0.4-10 kV - selection of line type, calculation of conductor sections taking into account loads and route lengths, coordination of relay protection and automation, development of cable logs and routing diagrams; a properly designed line supports reliable power supply and helps reduce losses throughout the facility life cycle
- Construction and reconstruction of transformer substations 6-10 kV / 0.4 kV - layout solutions, selection of power transformers by power and winding connection group, design of medium and low voltage switchgears (KSO, switchgear, ASU), development of schemes for normal and post-emergency operating modes; covers both the construction of new substations and the reconstruction of existing ones with the replacement of obsolete equipment
- Backup, emergency and autonomous power supply systems - schemes for automatic transfer switch (ATS), design of diesel generator sets and autonomous solar power plants; This is especially important for first-category power reliability facilities - medical institutions, data centres, production facilities with a continuous technological cycle, as well as for sites remote from centralized power grids
- Electricity metering systems - design of AMR, selection of accuracy classes of metering devices for commercial and technical metering, development of connection diagrams for current and voltage measuring transformers, solutions for telemetry and remote readings; a well-designed metering system ensures transparency of energy consumption and eliminates commercial losses
- Power equipment design - main distribution boards, main distribution panels and distribution points, power supply panels for process equipment; calculation of short-circuit currents, testing of switching devices for breaking capacity, coordination of protection across distribution levels
- Lighting design - work, emergency, evacuation, security, architectural, artistic and outdoor lighting; lighting calculations of standardized indicators (illuminance, uniformity, pulsation coefficient) in accordance with the current requirements of regulatory documents
- Lightning protection and grounding design - calculation of lightning rod protection zones, design of external and internal lightning protection systems, grounding loops and potential equalization systems in accordance with the requirements of GOST R 58698-2019
For which facilities is electrical supply design carried out?
AYU-Project specializes in commercial, industrial and residential construction, accepting orders for projects of any type and scale. The portfolio of completed projects includes multi-storey residential complexes with underground parking lots, office and shopping centers, logistics terminals, industrial buildings and mining facilities in different regions of Russia.
We work both with new construction - developing the electrical section of DD from scratch as part of a general package of design documentation - and with the reconstruction and technical re-equipment of existing facilities, where an organic linkage of new technical solutions with the existing electrical infrastructure is necessary. The main audience is developers, general contractors, technical customers and management companies.
How an electrical project is developed: from brief to expert review
The work begins with pre-project preparation: analysis of the utility technical specifications, study of architectural and design solutions, obtaining initial permitting documents. It is at this stage that boundary conditions are formed - the external connection arrangement, reliability category, voltage levels and maximum power demand of the facility.
Design documentation stage is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Government Decree of the Russian Federation No. 87 dated 16.02.2008 No. 87 (as amended on 21.10.2025) “On the composition of sections of project documentation and requirements for their content.” The power supply section includes: an explanatory note justifying the adopted technical solutions, basic and single-line diagrams of power supply, calculations of electrical loads, characteristics of power supplies and backup sources, description of ATS circuits, grounding and lightning protection measures, tasks in related sections.
Working Documentation Stage (WD) - this is a complete set of working drawings, according to which the installation is directly carried out: plans for the location of cable routes and electrical equipment, schematic diagrams of switchboards and control cabinets, cable logs, specifications of equipment and materials, wiring diagrams of connections. It is on the basis of the WD that installation organizations purchase and assemble equipment.
In parallel with the development, engineers coordinate technical solutions with related departments - heating networks, ventilation, automation, extra-low-voltage systems. After completion of the development of the DD, it is prepared to undergo state or independent expert review. Each object is assigned a personal manager and a chief project engineer - the customer always knows the current status of the task and the planned deadlines.
What regulatory requirements does the design documentation for power supply meet?
All design documentation developed by AYU-Project complies with the current regulatory and technical framework of the Russian Federation - this is a prerequisite both for passing the state expert review and for the safe operation of electrical installations throughout the entire life cycle of the facility.
- PUE (7th edition) “Rules for the construction of electrical installations” - a basic regulatory document regulating the requirements for the design and installation of electrical installations: selection of conductor cross-sections, power supply circuits, power supply reliability categories, requirements for protective devices and grounding
- GOST R 50571 - a series of standards for low voltage electrical installations, harmonized with the requirements of IEC 60364; establishes requirements for protection against electric shock, selection and installation of electrical equipment, testing and inspection
- SP 256.1325800.2016 “Electrical installations of residential and public buildings. Design and Installation Rules" - establishes requirements for the composition and technical solutions of electrical installations of residential and public buildings: input distribution devices, internal networks, lighting, grounding and lightning protection
- SP 31-110-2003 “Design and installation of electrical installations in residential and public buildings” - used in conjunction with SP 256 and regulates technical solutions for electricity metering, low-current systems as part of electrical sections, as well as requirements for switchboard rooms

SRO membership and membership of engineers in the national register of specialists NOPRIZ confirms the qualifications of designers and their right to develop DD for capital construction projects, including those that undergo state expert review.
Why do construction companies trust AYU-Project with electrical design?
Developers and general contractors work with us systematically, and rather than on a one-off basis - because we behave as a technical partner, and not just a contractor.
- 8+ years in the design of engineering systems - among the implemented projects are objects for Russian Railways, PJSC Rosseti Siberia, FGC, NTEK, Permtransgaz and a number of federal ministries and departments; experience of working at such facilities is a practical understanding of the requirements for serious design documentation
- Comprehensive coverage of engineering sections - electrical design documentation are designed in conjunction with all engineering specialties: low-current systems, fire safety, ventilation, automation and dispatching; one contractor - single point of responsibility and consistent technical coordination without gaps between sections
- Fixed Schedule and Price - the development period and price are fixed in the contract and are not revised unilaterally; this is critical for the construction business, where delays in project documentation automatically shift the entire production schedule
- Documentation prepared for expert review - the composition and content of design documentation sections are formed with a focus on passing expert review with a minimum number of comments; upon receipt of comments, adjustments are made within the framework of contractual obligations without additional payment
- Work across Russia without loss of quality - most projects are carried out remotely; for the development of design documentation and working documentation, the initial data and technical specifications are sufficient; If necessary, an engineer can visit the site for inspection

Frequently Asked Questions
This is one of the most common problems when designing commercial and industrial facilities. Solutions: submitting an application to increase capacity to the network organization (correct, but lengthy path); optimization of loads in the project - frequency drives, LED lighting, recuperation make it possible to reduce the design power without loss of functionality; own generation source - diesel generator set or solar power plant to cover peak load above the limit. Often, a combination of all three becomes optimal - AYU-Project studies options at the pre-project preparation stage.
The documentation complies with: Electrical Installation Code (7 edition), GOST R 50571 (low voltage electrical installations), SP 256.1325800.2016, SP 31-110-2003, GOST R 58698-2019 (lightning protection), PP Russian Federation No. 87 (ed. from 21.10.2025). Having SRO approval and membership in NOPRIZ confirms the right to develop design documentation for capital construction projects.
Yes, changes are possible, but the order in which they are made depends on the nature of the adjustments. If the change does not affect structural safety, load-bearing elements and technical solutions that were the subject of the examination, it is drawn up as part of the working documentation without going through the examination again - this is a standard situation when clarifying routes, replacing equipment with similar ones or adjusting lighting. If the change is significant - for example, the external power supply circuit, power source or reliability category changes - it will be necessary to make changes to the DD and re-pass expert review for the changed sections. AYU-Project accompanies the facility throughout the entire development cycle: when changes are received from the client, the engineer quickly assesses which design path is more correct and prepares documentation in accordance with the requirements of Government Decree of the Russian Federation No. 87.
This is one of the most common problems in electrical design for commercial and industrial facilities. If the allocated capacity is not enough, the developer has several options - and the right choice depends on the type of facility, timing and budget. The first option is to submit an application to increase capacity to the network organization: a technically correct, but lengthy path, taking from several months to a year. The second option is to optimize loads at the project stage: the use of frequency drives, energy recovery, LED lighting and other measures makes it possible to reduce the design power without compromising the functionality of the facility. The third option is your own generation source: a diesel generator or a solar power plant, covering the peak load in excess of the allocated limit. Often the optimal solution is a combination of all three approaches - AYU-Project studies them as part of pre-project preparation and offers an economically feasible option.
Yes, this is a separate direction: we design backup and emergency power supply systems based on diesel generator sets and automatic transfer switch circuits, as well as autonomous solar power plants. The choice of the type of backup source, power calculation and justification of the reliability category are included in the design documentation and detailed design documentation.
For standard administrative and residential buildings with an area of up to 5 000 m², the DD stage takes from 3 to 6 weeks. For large industrial and multifunctional facilities - individually. The term is fixed in the contract and supported by financial responsibility.
Yes, we accept orders for individual sections: lightning protection and grounding, electricity metering systems, lighting, power equipment. The composition is formed based on the needs of a specific construction project.
We formulate the composition and content of sections in strict accordance with the Russian Government Resolution No. 87 (as amended by 21.10.2025). When we receive comments from the expert, we promptly make adjustments within the framework of contractual obligations - without additional payment.
Yes, we carry out the development of both the DD stage and the WD stage - separately or in full. The composition of the documentation is agreed upon when concluding the contract. For facilities undergoing state expert review, we recommend sequential development: first the DD with completing expert review, then the WD.
At the first stage, it is enough to briefly describe the facility: purpose, area, number of floors, region of construction and availability of technical conditions. For a detailed proposal, you will need architectural solutions (AR or AC), technical conditions for power supply and a design assignment, if it has already been generated.
Yes, AYU-Project works across Russia. The main format is remote: to develop design documentation and detailed design documentation, initial data, technical specifications and architectural solutions are sufficient. If necessary, an engineer can visit the site.
